Changes in subscriptions in 2014

In 2014 NTK didn't subscribed to following e-resources: Scitation (American Institut of Physics e-Journals), ebrary (Collections Computers & IT, Engineering & Technology, Physical Sciences), Knovel, Proquest Dissertation and Theses. If you need an advice how to get one of these e-resources, please let us know at reference@techlib.cz

Registered clients from the Czech Republic, residing in the Czech Republic, can access many of these resources from anywhere; other registered clients (e.g., international students) can access via the terminals in the Library building.

1. FIND FULL TEXT

Encyclopedia Britannica is a high-quality multidisciplinary English-language encyclopedia, written and continuously updated by editors and contributors since 18th century. NTK subscribes to Britannica’s Online Academic Edition, with over 75,000 articles (many of which are supplemented with multimedia content) and 23,000 biographies. Also at your fingertips through Britannica are a comprehensive English dictionary, thesaurus and world atlas.

NTK provides a selection of eBooks (currently over 12 000) in computing, engineering and physics, which you can view online, download, annotate or use with an eBook reader.

NTK subscribes to EBSCOhost, which includes Academic Search Complete (scholarly, multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journals), Business Source Complete (scholarly business journals), Regional Business News (regional business publications), GreenFILE (human impact to the environment), and LISTA (librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics). NTK also provides access to several eBooks. EBSCO interfaces are also able to be switched to different languages; you will see the default in Czech, but can modify this.

Emerald is a scholarly publisher of academic journals and books. NTK subscribes to the Engineering collection, which offer access to 16 journals focusing on engineering: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Assembly Automation, Circuit World, COMPEL: The International Journal for Computation and Mathematics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Computations, Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, Industrial Robot, International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology, International Journal of Numerical Methods in Heat and Fluid Flow, Kybernetes, Microelectronics International, Pigment & Resin Technology, Rapid Prototyping Journal, Sensor Review, Soldering & Surface Mount Technology.

 

Additionally, this resource provides bibliographic databases and case studies.

75 peer-reviewed journals published by the Institute of Physics, an international scientific charity devoted to increasing the practice, understanding, and application of physics. Over time, IOPscience will be adding eBooks to its collection (currently, there are only two, on semiconductors and renewable energy). You will find articles on general fields, applied Mathematics and Physics, Plasma, Optical, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter and High Energy Physics, Computer Science and Physics Teaching.

Focused on the engineering community, Knovel offers peer-reviewed engineering content including more than 3,500 leading reference works and databases from more than 90 leading technical publishers and professional societies. NTK’s subscription includes Technology, Engineering, and Chemistry. Knovel also provides interactive tables and graphs to help engineer’s use and export relevant data.

ProQuest provides you with three databases: ebrary, which offers multidisciplinary eBooks (see more information above), a collection of theses and dissertations in Science and Engineering, as well as the ProQuest Technology Collection, providing full-text articles focused on Materials Science, Aerospace, Engineering Sciences and Advanced Technologies.

Elsevier’s ScienceDirect provides more than 2,500 journals and 11,000 books, covering a large range of subjects . NTK subscribes to an eBook collection which includes Technology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computing, but you can also find books about art and more general subjects.

Scitation is an online publishing platform that hosts journals published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) and other sci-tech publishers. See current list of publishers here.  

Scitation provides documents from scholarly journals, magazines, conference proceedings, and other special publications from scientific societies and technical publishers. NTK offers access to 20 full-text journals focused on the area of Physics: AIP Advances, AIP Conference Proceedings, APL: Organic Electronics and Photonics, Applied Physics Letters, Applied Physics Reviews, Biomicrofluidics, Chaos, JCP: BioChemical Physics, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Chemical Physics, Journal of Laser Applications, Journal of Mathematical Physics, Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Low Temperature Physics, Physics of Fluids, Physics of Plasmas, Physics Today, Review of Scientific Instruments, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters.

SpringerLink provides full-text access to over 1,000 journals and 500 eBooks in engineering, computing, and mathematics. Includes Lecture Notes in Computer Science and Mathematics, as well as a backfile (archive) to 1973. The interface is also available in German in addition to English.

Wiley Online Library hosts a multidisciplinary collection of online resources such as reference works, laboratory protocols and databases. NTK's  subscription includes full-text access to over 850 journals and 70 eBooks covering Engineering and Natural Sciences. You can also find these materials using the library catalog.

 

 

2. FIND BIBLIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION AND CITATIONS

 

A project of the University Library of Regensburg, Germany, which shows you how to access journals from over 580 participating libraries. If you can’t find a journal in NTK’s collection, you may wish to locate the title here before asking a librarian for assistance in getting it through interlibrary loan. You can also find complete bibliographical information online : a color code allows you to identify rapidly what kind of information you are going to get and if it is freely available or if it is a subscription resource. The interface is available in both English and German.

Web of Knowledge allows you to find and track scholarly citations and to discover who’s citing who. Provides tools for viewing journal impact factor and for finding author names. It covers the natural and technical sciences, social sciences and humanities. For a thorough citation search, use both Web of Knowledge and Scopus.

Scopus allows you to find and track scholarly citations/who’s citing who in science, technology, medicine, the social sciences, and arts and humanities (1996-present). Includes search of over 21,000 titles from more than 5,000 publishers and 5.5 million conference papers. It provides 21,000 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers, 5.5 million conference papers, "Articles-in-Press" from more than 3850 journals and publishers such as Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley-Blackwell, Nature Publishing Group and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).For a thorough citation search, use both Web of Knowledge and Scopus.

Ulrichsweb provides detailed information on more than 300,000 periodicals of all types: academic and scholarly journals, eJournals, peer-reviewed titles, popular magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and more. It covers more than 900 transdisciplinary subjects. Ulrich's records provide other information such as ISSN, publisher, language, subject, abstracting & indexing coverage, full-text database coverage, tables of contents, and reviews written by librarians.

3. IN-LIBRARY USE RESOURCES

Anopress provides Czech media archives dating back to 1996, including full-text of newspapers and magazine articles, transcripts of television and radio programs, and news from Internet websites.

ASPI is specialized in providing legal information, including online legislation, rules, case law and comments from the Czech Republic but also from other European judiciary bodies.

Codexis provides legal information and is focused on European Community law. You can also find European Union and Czech Republic regulations and case law, as well as relevant and selected legal literature.

This database is dedicated to Czech technical standards and norms. You can access the full-text of all applicable, current standards in addition to outdated ones (if they have been converted into electronic format).

Standards can be searched and viewed, but unfortunately you cannot save or print them.

Albertina provides corporate information from registered companies (profit and non-profit) in the Czech Republic. You can get reports providing details regarding organizational  registration, contact information, assessments, payment behavior, debt, ownership of real estate, and financial information.

The NTK itself is involved in this digital library project, a database which includes more than 1,000 monographs such as old/rare books, maps, atlases, university textbooks, professional publications, and some periodicals. Textbooks are available only in the Periodicals Reading Room and not in the freely-accessible online version. Documents without copyright restrictions are freely-available from anywhere and can be downloaded as PDFs or printed on any printer, at home or in the library.
